Bayern Munich are looking to the Premier League as they eye up replacements for the Real Madrid-bound Alphonso Davies with Chelsea’s Borussia Dortmund loanee Ian Maatsen a £35 million target.
HITC Football understands that, despite the best efforts of the reigning Bundesliga champions, Canada international Davies is set to snub the offer of a new contract in favour of following former team-mate David Alaba to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Bayern Munich will sell Davies, albeit reluctantly, rather than risk losing a prized asset for free in the summer of 2025.
And, after bringing in former Tottenham duo Eric Dier and Harry Kane, while also showing an interest in Joao Palhinha and Kieran Trippier, the Bavarian giants are setting their sights on the Premier League once again in pursuit of a new left-back.
There is interest in Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, one of the most improved players in England over hte last few months. Robinson was arguably the best player on the pitch as Fulham hammered Spurs 3-0 last Saturday.
HITC understands that Ian Maatsen – contracted to Fulham’s West London neighbours Chelsea – is another option under consideration. The former Burnley loanee may have the added advantage of boasting a proven track record in Germany’s top flight. Maatsen joined Borussia Dortmund on a temporary basis in January, and has largely outshone fellow loanee Jadon Sancho over the last few weeks.
Maatsen has a £35 million release clause in his Chelsea contract. Interestingly, we have been told that Mauricio Pochettino’s side like Robinson too, and it is not out of the question that Chelsea could move for the Milton Keynes-born USA international if Maatsen does turn his short-term stay into Germany into more long-term one.

Cashing in on the Netherlands under-21 international, who represented Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven at youth level, could help ease Chelsea’s well-documented Financial Fair Play concerns. The Blues are already looking to sell Trevoh Chalobah, while even captain Conor Gallagher could be sacrificed.
A number of big-money sales would go a long way to raising funds for the sort of elite-level centre-forward Chelsea are craving.
HITC reported on Wednesday that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen remains the number one target, though there is also interest in Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez.
